Prenatal & Postpartum Counselling

Being a parent isn’t exactly what you thought it would be, is it?

Perhaps your mind is swirling with worries. Maybe you catch yourself feeling unexpectedly angry at times. And perhaps you’re just not finding joy in this phase as you had anticipated.

Feeling overwhelmed? On edge? Stuck in a cycle of guilt and self-doubt, constantly struggling to keep your head above water? Maybe you’re experiencing a sense of disconnection from yourself or your partner, and it’s leaving you feeling lost and uncertain.

No, you’re not just bad at this. You’re also not alone. And with support, you can get through it all.

How do I know this is the right fit for me?

  1. Someone To Talk To : It may seem straightforward, but we understand how isolating life can become, especially in the early stages of parenthood. Connecting with a therapist can provide you with a sense of understanding, validation, and support, making you feel less alone and more empowered.
  2. Understanding Self: Parenting often comes with a heavy dose of self-criticism. We understand that you aspire to be the best parent possible and hold yourself to high standards. We won’t urge you to lower those expectations, but we’ll support you in exploring your challenges, understanding yourself better, and cultivating self-compassion throughout your journey.
  3. Skills & Strategies: Real change happens outside of the therapy session. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills to keep improving your mental health, well being, and relationships with tangible and realistic tools.

What do we discuss in Prenatal & Postpartum Counselling?

Our sessions cover a wide range of topics, from deciding whether to have children to navigating evolving relationships as families expand. We delve into parenting discussions, intimacy and sexuality, identity shifts, career considerations, and any other issues that emerge during this significant life transition.

We extend our services to clients with older children as well because we recognize that the postpartum period extends far beyond the first year, and many challenges persist throughout the parenting journey. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Furthermore, we warmly welcome individuals in all family-related roles, including birthing and non-birthing partners, non-binary or gender non-conforming clients, as well as fathers. We embrace unpartnered clients navigating the dating scene or forming new relationships. Our inclusive approach extends to supporting individuals who identify as LGBTQ+, non-monogamous, polyamorous, or who are part of other non-traditional relationship structures.
