Our Specializations
Relationships
Our counsellors at Blue Sky Wellness Clinic have extensive training in various modalities and real-world experience with multiple relationship types. We aim to provide our clients with a safe and compassionate space no matter the stage of their journey
Anxiety
Anxiety is a normal stress reaction and can be beneficial in some situations. It can alert us to danger and help us prepare and pay attention. Anxiety disorders differ from normal feelings of nervousness or anxiousness and involve excessive fear or anxiety. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders and affect nearly 30% of adults at some point in their lives.¹ But anxiety disorders are treatable, and a number of effective treatments are available. Treatment helps most people lead normal, productive lives.
Depression
Depression is a mood disorder that negatively affects how a person feels, thinks and behaves. Depression causes persistent feelings of sadness and a loss of interest in activities they once enjoyed. It can lead to various emotional and physical problems and decrease an individual’s ability to function at work and at home.
Family
Whether you come on your own, with your partner or as part of a family, we can provide relief. Our counsellors and psychologists can help you reconnect with your loved ones. We will help you discover what is most important to you. With a supportive approach, we will help you explore feelings about yourself, your family, and your work. You will be encouraged to move beyond what’s blocking you and take the steps required to create lasting changes. We invite you to contact us now and start focusing your energy on improving the quality of your life.
Loss and Grief
After losing a loved one, there is often a period of grief, mourning or bereavement. These feelings are an entirely normal response to loss. Together with your counsellor, they will help you navigate what may seem like one of the most challenging times in your life.
PTSD
It’s natural to feel afraid during and after a traumatic situation. Fear can trigger split-second changes in the body to help defend against danger or to avoid it. This “fight-or-flight” response is a typical reaction to protect a person from harm. Many people who go through traumatic events may have temporary difficulty adjusting and coping, but with time and good self-care, they usually get better. If the symptoms worsen, last for months or even years and interfere with your day-to-day functioning, you may have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Self-Esteem
Self-esteem is an integral feature of emotional health and well-being. When we have positive feelings about ourselves, we exude confidence and see ourselves as valuable. In most cases, others view and treat us in the same respect. However, when we have negative feelings about ourselves, we can be critical, contemptuous, and pessimistic. This behaviour can cause others to take this attitude toward us. Whether positive or negative, these thoughts contribute to our self-image and build our self-esteem.
Chronic Stress
Throughout one’s lifetime, it’s typical to experience acute stress. Acute stress is a dramatic physiological and psychological reaction to a specific event. However, not all responses to stress are confined to a particular event. Chronic stress is characterized by a consistent sense of feeling pressured and overwhelmed over a long period. If you are experiencing debilitating symptoms, there are ways to manage and help you get through them.
Trauma
Trauma counselling can assist with various internal emotional reactions to challenging situations. Not all people are alike; therefore, some experience these events as more traumatic than others and will need help coping with the emotional burden. Identifying a life event as a ‘trauma’ can be challenging. In addition, it can be even more difficult to recall those events and talk through them as it may be a traumatising experience all over again.
School & Work Difficulties
In today’s society, the workplace has become an extension of who you are. It’s a place that allows you to pursue your passions and develop your skills. But with that, the workplace has also become increasingly stressful for many people, and it's no surprise that it can lead to poor health. When stress occurs, your health becomes more affected. Finding a low-stress job might be difficult because stress is common in any workplace. Instead, focusing on effective strategies to reduce your stress at work would be a more practical choice.
Perfectionism
Counselling offers a supportive and non-judgmental space to explore the underlying causes of perfectionism and its impact on your life
